Biography of Ani Konchok Jampa Chodron
Ani Konchok Jampa Chodron was born in Indiana in the late 1930s. In 1959, she graduated from Indiana University with a BA degree in anthropology. It was here that Ani Jampa first encountered Buddhism. From that moment, she devoted her life to studying and practicing Buddhism while she searched for her lineage. This she found when she met and took Refuge with Khenchen Rinpoche, Konchog Gyaltshen in 1983. She has been accepted as a disciple by Khenchen Rinpoche, Konchok Gyaltshen, His Eminence Garchen Thriptul Rinpoche and the Venerable Khenmo Konchog Trinlay Chodren Karuna and has received many teachings and empowerments from them and other great teachers of the Drikung Lineage.
At the urging of Drupon Samten Rinpoche, Jampa requested ordination. She was ordained in the spring of 1996 by Khenchen Rinpoche, Konchok Gyaltshen. Ani Jampa then completed a three year retreat under the guidance of Khenchen Rinpoche, Konchok Gyaltshen. At completion of the retreat, Venerable Rinpoche suggested that she remain in life-long service retreat, and she agreed.
At the request of Khenchen Rinpoche, Konchok Gyaltshen and Khenmo Konchog Trinlay Chodren Karuna, Ani has been teaching 'Introduction To Buddhism,' providing background information for beginning students, and will be announcing other subjects as well.
Ani is based out of the Drikung Lineage's Katsel Shenphen Dhargye Cho Ling, residence of Thadag Tulku Rinpoche and continues to dedicate her life to the Dharma.
